Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Militants in Pakistan
launched two deadly attacks at military targets Thursday, killing four
soldiers and a fuel tanker driver.
A suicide car bomber in
Pakistan's tribal region struck an army checkpoint, killing himself and
the soldiers, a local political official told CNN..
The incident took place
in restive North Waziristan, where Islamic militants have a strong
presence. Three other soldiers were injured.
In Balochistan province, militants attacked a tanker carrying fuel for U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan.
Four gunmen on two
motorcycles killed a driver and injured two other men who accompanied
the driver, local police said. The attackers drove off after the strike.
There have been no claims
of responsibility. The strikes come a day after more than 50 militants
attacked a checkpoint in the Peshawar area.
